Hi! Another month, another round of new arrivals at J.Crew! I’m going to have to split this up in to two posts since I feel like I tried on everything in the store. My store was just upgraded to a new tier so it was more full than usual this month and I felt a little overwhelmed with my dressing room full of stuff. I went in the evening whereas I usually go first thing in the morning and I am on the tail end of my annual spring cold so I was probably a little more tired than usual  but I pushed through. I got the style guide for June and I honestly didn’t see a ton that I had to have but once I tried a few things on I definitely have a few things I’ll be keeping an eye on and depending on your lifestyle, there are definitely items to love. I’m usually looking for workwear items and a few fun weekend pieces. The off-the-shoulder, ruffle, one shoulder trend is still strong and while I’ve more or less hit my saturation point with these, I caved and ended up with another ruffle in my closet for the summer. Enough of my rambling, onward to try ons!

First up, the ruffles I had to have. The lightweight striped off-the-shoulder ruffle sweater.

 Shoes: J.Crew Factory

The minute I put this on I was sold. This sweater also comes in a solid version in black or dried thyme (read: olive) and is a viscose/poly blend. I tried a small which is my go to t-shirt size/Tippi size these days (I’m a 6 in blouses / 32E chest). What I liked about this vs. other off the shoulder tops is that it has a strong elastic and with the material of the sweater, it seemed like it would really stay off the shoulder without much adjustment. I did wear it around the house as I debated wearing it out last night (ended up being a little too cold) and it seemed to stay in place. I know it’s trendy, I know I probably won’t get more than two summers out of it, but it made me happy so it came home with me.

Next up, the White Denim Shift Dress.

Sandals: Corsica Metallic Espadrilles (size down if a half size)

This dress is selling fast. I am wearing a size 6 which is the smaller of my two dress sizes so I would say this runs a bit generous and it is cut A-line rather than a straight shift dress. I can see why it’s popular but it wasn’t for me. It was a bit too short. I would have preferred a tall length in this and I found the pockets to be bulky. The denim material is substantial and thicker so it’s not transparent (not sure I would attempt colored undergarments but it isn’t see through). The length was a deal breaker for me.

Next up, the Spaghetti-strap dress in Ratti® painted pineapple.

If you’ve read my previous posts, you know I’m not much for fruit or critters. I do love the colors on this print though. I’m wearing a size 6 due to the fuller skirt but it was busty on me. I had to adjust the straps to pull the front up a bit. If you are smaller on top this will look great. I had a good strapless bra on and everything and it was just a bit much and a larger size would have been bigger elsewhere. I like the length, it would be cute with a cardigan for casual summer events but it was a pass for me.

While we’re on the topic of pineapples, here’s the A-line skirt in Ratti painted pineapple.

I’m wearing a 6 in this. The fit is good and I like the longer length. If I were going to get something in the print, it would be the skirt. The skirt also comes in petite and tall. and it has an elastic waist. I’m wearing it with the scoopneck linen tank top in metallic. The tank runs large, I’m wearing a small and it was roomy. If this were floral, I’d be all over it.

Next up, the Thomas Mason for J.Crew Striped Cotton Pant.

These are currently sold out but my store had a few to try. I’m wearing an 8 in these and while they looked ok they were a little big. I wasn’t sure about these at first, but the more I had them on, the more I liked them. They’d be a bit of a stretch to the office but the paper bag waist trend is growing on me and the bold stripes are fun. The cotton is lightweight but not flimsy. I might have preferred them in a different color stripe. There are also a navy stripe version of the Thomas Mason pants in more of a pajama style, I may try those out to see how I like them. I’m wearing the pants with the Made in the Shade tee in a medium, which was a bit roomy. The tee also comes in yellow with pink lettering.

Next up, the Collection embroidered-dot tulle skirt.

This is another one that’s currently sold out but I was curious to try it. Sadly, it was a total miss. I’m wearing a size 8. It made me feel huge. There is too much pleating and material around the waistline which added a lot of visual weight to the hips. I have nowhere to wear it so it’s just as well it didn’t look good on me but I’ll be curious if we’re seeing popbacks of this in coming weeks. There was another woman in the store with me who tried it on as well in a much smaller size than me and it had the same effect on her. The length was good and I like the concept but this was a pass.

Next up, the Campbell Blazer in Liberty Poppy and Daisy Floral.

This was a surprise love for me. I have generally admired the Liberty floral from a distance and haven’t purchased much in their prints, namely because I don’t usually do a ton of button down shirts. I do have a liberty floral bathing suit. I have been looking for a few summer weight blazers and I really liked this one. The blazer is lined in pinstripes and while it’s a little out of my color wheel for pairing, I’m trying out a few options of pants. I liked it paired with the pale pink but it will look good with olive, light blue or khaki or denim. I’m wearing an 8 but could have gone down to a 6 if necessary. I’m also wearing the Lookout High Rise Jeans in White.

Next up, the eyelet top with tassel trim.

Eyelet and tassels aren’t really my thing but this was a cute top and I think a lot of people will like it. The white wasn’t transparent. It also comes in warm clover and sunset gold. I’m wearing a size small. The length was good but if you’re between sizes, size down because it is a fuller fit and if you’re shorter waisted I could see how it would look square. It looked alright on me but it was a little too fussy for me.

Last up for now is the Double V-Neck Dress in Stretch Seersucker.

I’m wearing a size 8 so this is a closer fit but the fit was perfect. The length is right at my knees. I liked this dress a lot but I wasn’t completely sold on the rope tie at the waist. It’s personally not for me. But I might be sold at the right price on sale. As the name states the V-neck is in the front and the back of the dress and it is modest without showing a lot of cleavage. I did find the darts on the bust to be a bit pointy though. However, it’s a great summer dress, is work appropriate and also great for weekend parties.

Well, that’s it for now. I will have another post up soon with the rest of my try-ons. Any favorites from this rollout? Would love to hear what you think and thanks for stopping by!
