A blazer is one of those pieces that truly defines my style. It’s the item I reach for when I need an instant dose of polish — whether I’m heading to the office, out to dinner, or catching a flight. It’s classic, versatile, and always makes me feel put-together.
After a busy month of travel and work, I’ve found myself relying on my blazers more than ever. They’re the easiest way to pull a look together when I’ve done minimal outfit planning — and the best part? They never go out of style.
Why I Love a Great Blazer
A well-cut blazer is a true multitasker. It bridges the gap between structure and ease, adding confidence and polish to just about anything you pair it with.
Here’s why it’s one of my Fab Five essentials:
Instant polish, minimal effort. It adds structure and confidence even over denim or a simple tee.
Weekday to weekend versatility. Sharp with trousers or a dress, effortless with jeans, and elegant with leather or velvet for evenings and holidays.
Timeless investment. A great blazer outlasts trends — it’s a piece you’ll reach for year after year.
The ultimate “third piece.” When an outfit feels unfinished, I almost always add a blazer. It’s the simplest styling solution that always works.
Confidence factor. No matter what’s underneath, I feel more pulled-together the second I put one on.
How I Style My Blazers
Blazers are one of the most versatile items in my closet — they can completely shift the mood of an outfit depending on how you style them.
For work: Over a sweater tee and tailored trousers (sometimes even a midi skirt) — my go-to uniform for feeling polished in the office.
For casual Fridays: With dark denim, a cashmere turtleneck, and sleek sneakers for a refined off-duty look.
For dinner or evenings out: Paired with slim jeans, a silk cami, and flats or kitten heels — simple, feminine, and timeless.
For travel: Over a tee with wide-leg sweater pants or denim. It’s the perfect layering piece that makes even an airport outfit look intentional.

The Fab Five Edit: Blazers I’m Loving
These are a few classic styles I always recommend adding to your wardrobe (affiliate links to be added):
- The perfect camel blazer — seasonless, elegant, endlessly versatile
- A black wool blend blazer that pairs with everything
- A plaid or check blazer to add personality to your neutrals
- A feminine hourglass blazer for shape and structure
- A tweed lady jacket for instant polish
Since changing sizes, I’ve been rebuilding my wardrobe intentionally — adding pieces that truly earn their spot. A camel blazer was at the top of my fall wish list (and yes, I already want it in another color). I also added an ivory tweed lady jacket and have been using my Rent the Runway subscription to test out new styles before committing. It’s such a smart way to try pieces you might not normally invest in — and I’ll be sharing more about those rentals next week.
Fab Styling Tip
When it comes to blazers, proportions are key. Lately, I’ve gravitated toward slightly longer, tailored styles — they’re modern but not oversized. If I’m wearing a looser blazer, I balance it with a slimmer pant or fitted sweater dress. Conversely, a cropped or boxy lady jacket pairs beautifully with straight-leg or subtle flare jeans.
During a recent outfit try-on, I realized that my older, more fitted printed blazer didn’t quite work with my new denim silhouette — but swapping in a longer black blazer instantly fixed the proportions. Sometimes it’s all about experimenting until it feels right.

Closing Thoughts
If you’re refreshing your wardrobe or looking to elevate your everyday outfits, start with a great blazer. It’s the one piece that consistently earns its space — it can dress up denim, polish off office looks, and add that extra layer of confidence to your day.
Next week, I’ll be sharing how I’ve been wearing my Fab Five pieces to the office lately, including a few standout looks featuring recent Rent the Runway finds. Stay tuned for real outfit ideas and how I keep my wardrobe feeling current without starting from scratch every season.
