*Taps mic* Hello! It has been a few minutes (or four and a half years to be exact). I could spend more time than necessary listing reasons why I’ve let this blog sit but that’s not important now. I’m jumping back in and excited to be here! I’ve been somewhat active on Instagram and have decided it’s time to get back to the blog. Several months ago, I was scrolling Instagram and came across a post about a style challenge called the 75 Hard Style Challenge. When I started posting on Instagram in 2013, style challenges were very popular and was how I connected with many of my Instagram friends.
Why did this challenge peak my interest after years of occasionally posting? After some major life events over the past few years, pandemic included, I was less and less enthused about getting dressed every day. The goal of this challenge is to get dressed every day for 75 days, document and share the outfits.
The challenge also requires no new clothing/shopping for the 75 days (which I failed at, more about later). The idea of challenging myself to 75 days of outfits was a challenge and offered a way for me to start to actually wear the items in my closet, rather than acquiring items and living in athleisure when I worked from home. You can read more about the challenge here which began on Tiktok by Mandy of An Old Loser in Brooklyn.
I purchased a tripod and ring light to replace the one that had been damaged in a recent move, played around with set up, and got to work. I planned out my outfits for the first week and got to work. I also started playing with Instagram Reels which were somewhat foreign to me, and tried to not overthink everything as I started publishing content.
I’ll share a full recap week by week of outfits and share my learnings along the way. My primary goal is getting dressed every day – something that I haven’t done consistently in a very long time. I am recording more videos which I believe has improved my confidence speaking and refining my message, something that I have always struggled with.
This is a very light post to begin blogging again…but I’m glad to be back! I hope you’ll stick around as I figure out getting back in to the world of blogging. Thanks for being here!
