In today’s post I’m sharing my top five (in no particular order) favorite curve friendly J.Crew jeans. I mostly wore a school uniform growing up and grew up in the years of chinos as casual pants. Therefore, I didn’t discover my love for denim until I was well in to college. And then came finding jeans to fit my curvy figure. My waist is one size, my hips are one to two sizes bigger. Such is life. For as many pairs of jeans I’ve found that fit my figure, there are dozens of pairs that didn’t fit. Many retailers now make dedicated curvy lines, and while I have found pairs I love that fit in the “curvy” category, I still try non curvy styles as well and have some luck.
Thanks to a lot of trial and error, elastane and curvy fit jeans, I own way more pairs of jeans than I’d like to admit. For years, skinny jeans were a go to but as we’ve shifted away from those and in to more straight leg and wider styles, it will be hard to go back. It will be no surprise to you that J.Crew is a favorite place to shop for denim. In no particular order, here are five of my favorite J.Crew curve friendly jeans.
- Curvy Vintage Slim Straight. These are probably one of my favorite pairs of jeans in my wardrobe. I first purchased these a few years in a size down from my usual J.Crew denim number size. They are stretchy, sort of in between a skinny and straight leg and the perfect medium wash. I am wearing these in my regular J.Crew denim size and I have a bit of extra length in them and they have a bit more room without being loose. I have had strangers stop me while out to compliment these jeans, that’s how good they are. The are stretchy without stretching out and if you have a curvy figure, these deserve a place in your denim rotation. Shown with Express top and Common projects sneakers.
- High Rise Slim Demi Boot. It took me a while to get on the kick crop/crop boot trend and these were a surprise love for me. These are a high rise at 10.25″ and hit above my navel which is my preferred rise. These are considered “power” stretch by J. Crew standards and have a good amount of stretch but also do not stretch out over the day and keep their shape. I wear charcoal colored denim regularly and this pair is a go to for evenings out as well as for work. Thy look good paired with both heels and sneakers and are a three season pair of jeans. Shown with J.Crew sweater, blazer and Amazon heels.
- Trouser Jeans. Again, it took me a while to warm up to this style as well, and they key to these is to find a pair that fit. Each wash of this style have a slightly different fabric composition and this pair is only 1% elastane. This is a pair that I need to jump to put on (curvy girls – if you know, you know…) but once they’re on I feel so put together. I have these in the tall length and a size down from my usual J.Crew denim size which does give them a bit higher of a rise but I also have these in the regular length is my regular size. I cut the hem on the tall ones and these have a bit of an unfinished hem. These are tall at the regular length and I can wear with sneakers or a short heel. Shown with Sezane blouse and Sam Edelman heels.
- Skinny Flare. This post is a lesson in don’t knock it until you try it. Another pair I have to jump to shimmy in to but once they’re on they make my legs look a mile long and I am brought back to the boot cut jeans of years past. They have stretch, a high waist and I think the slim boot looks best with a small heel but I do have a shorter hem pair from Madewell that I think looks good with jeans or flats as well. The dark rinse wash have been on regular rotation for evenings out and with a lady jacket for the office and I recently added the lighter wash to my wardrobe for spring and summer. Shown with J.Crew top and Sam Edelman heels.
- Slim Wide Leg. This style comes in an unfinished hem and finished hem washes. For work, I’d prefer these in a finished hem but think they are an excellent addition for spring and summer with sneakers or sandals and this pair are the perfect medium wash. I find these jeans run large, I originally sized down two sizes but decided on the pair one size down. Shown with Mango top (sold out, linked similar here..
